Chagas disease: Mother infects unborn baby with 'new AIDS of the Americas' disease - the first documented case in the U.S.

The boy was born in Virginia at 29 weeks in August 2010, but it was not until two weeks later that his Bolivian mother told doctors she had previously been diagnosed with Chagas disease.
