Truex close to new Waltrip deal

Martin Truex Jr claims he is "very close" to extending his relationship with Michael Waltrip Racing. The 32-year-old is currently in position to claim a Chase berth for only the second time in his NASCAR Sprint Cup career, and the first ever for an MWR driver in its short history in NASCAR's elite series. Truex joined the outfit in 2010 after leaving Earnhardt Ganassi Racing and despite being winless since his maiden Cup victory with Dale Earnhardt Inc in 2007, he currently ranks fifth in the points standings
