RATINGS RAT RACE: ?Fringe? Inches Up Post Renewal

Nellie AndreevaAs primetime continues to lose viewers to the longer days and warmer springtime, Fox’s Fringe last night (1.1/3 in adults 18-49) went up a tenth from last week in its first airing since the sci-fi series was renewed for a 13-episode final season. It was one of only two series to post gains vs. their most recent originals last night. The other was NBC’s Who Do You Think You Are (1.0/4), whose Rob Lowe episode was up 25% from the previous new episode 3 weeks ago featuring Edie Falco. After surging 33% last week, Fox’s The Finder (1.1/4) was down 8% this week as it faced all-original competition in the 8 PM hour vs. all-repeats on the major nets last week. CBS was back in originals, claiming the ratings crown for the night in adults 18-49 and total viewers but all of its series were down. Undercover Boss (1.6/6, down 11% from the fast national for its last original 3 weeks ago, 7.1 million total viewers) was once again the top program of the night in 18-49. CSI: NY (1.4/5, 8.9 million) was down 13% in the demo, while Blue Bloods (1.4/4, 10.2 million) was down 18% while ranking as the most watched program of the night. Shark Tank (1.4/5) was understandably hurt by ABC’s scheduling, down 13% from its last new episode 2 weeks ago when it ... Read More »

Exclusive 'Battleship' Clip Premieres Monday On MTV!

Stars Rihanna, Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård and Brooklyn Decker will unveil clip during 'MTV First' at 7:56 p.m. ET Monday.

We still have a few more weeks to wait to find out which "Battleship" castmember utters the immortal phrase "You sunk my Battleship!" So in the meantime, we're offering up the exclusive premiere of a very special new clip from the film, along with the stars themselves, for "MTV First: Battleship."

Taylor Kitsch, Alexander Skarsgård, Rihanna and Brooklyn Decker will hit MTV's airwaves Monday, April 30, at 7:56 p.m. ET to premiere the exclusive clip, after which they will stick around for a meaty 30 minutes of Q&A on MTV.com hosted by MTV News' Josh Horowitz. Fans can get in on the action immediately by submitting video or text questions via MTV.com or via Twitter (using @MTVNews, hashtag #MTVFirst or #AskBattleship). During "MTV First," the four stars will also answer your Twitter questions and dish on the very latest news.

"Battleship" promises to be a true summer blockbuster in every way. It is an action-packed event movie with an A-list and very attractive cast.

"The movie is really the story of a younger brother (Kitsch) trying to grow up and be a man like [his older brother (Skarsgård)]," director Peter Berg told MTV News. "There just happens to be an alien invasion in the middle of it."

The "Friday Night Lights" director also promised that despite the "Transformers" comparisons, his film is "completely different."

"I think 'Transformers' is awesome," Berg said. "I think [director Michael] Bay did an incredible job with that film and I think when you sit through 4 minutes of 'Battleship,' you'll realize that they are two completely different experiences.

"Obviously, our big bosses who are concerned with making their money back have a vested interested in attaching themselves to other successful films. We don't think about that; we think about making our own movie, and I'm pretty confident that whether you love 'Battleship' or not, the issue of comparison to other films is pretty irrelevant."

The film hits theaters across the country May 18.

Don't forget to join Taylor Kitsch, Rihanna, Alexander Skarsgård and Brooklyn Decker for "MTV First: Battleship" on Monday, April 30, at 7:56 p.m. ET on MTV!

Check out everything we've got on "Battleship."

Review: Samsung Battery Charger Stand for Galaxy Note

Samsung Battery Charger Stand

While digging around for accessories for my Samsung Galaxy Note I wasn't really looking for anything specific. I knew that I wanted to pick up a spare battery due to the fact that I always enjoy knowing I have a spare ready to go but other than that, I wasn't sure what I really wanted until I noticed the Samsung battery charger stand. One small product that actually has quite a few uses all things considered.

When you open the package and get it all unwrapped from the plastic that Samsung chose to wrap it in, the first thing you'll notice is that the stand itself is incredibly light, yet not light enough to say swipe off the side of your table without some force behind it. Basic stuff really, it's made of plastic while the bottom is made of rubber and has rubber soles at the bottom to avoid it sliding around on things that may be slippery.

It's also slim enough that when not using it as a stand for your device, you can close it up toss in your bag or purse and not really worry about it taking up too much space. Also included in the package is a standard microUSB wall charger for the port on the back or you could just simply use it as a spare charger for your device. In addition to that, you also get a standard 2500 mAh battery that sits nice and snug into the slot it was meant for.

As a stand, it works as it should. Simply pop up the door to the charger portion and just sit your device in there, be it portrait or landscape. Both will work just fine though landscape will require some adjustment of the plastic door to ensure that it holds your device up. The stand portion has a rubber liner in it so that it grips your device and prevents it from moving about, it passed my test which is to go ahead and bang my hands on my desk to see if it would tip or fall over with any sort of ease -- it didn't so that's a win.

Given its thin profile, it also looks great sitting there. Also, I found it pretty easy to navigate around with my Galaxy Note in the stand. I mention that because you know you're going to do it anyway, be it on your desk or beside your bed watching some Netflix or whatever -- you're going to want to touch it at some point and knowing it won't tip over is good.

Overall, for the $39.95 you'll pay for it in the ShopAndroid Store you're essentially killing off multiple accessory purchases. You're getting a spare charger, a spare battery, a spare battery charger and a stand. If you were to buy them all separate, you'd be paying out a bit more then $39.95 that's for sure.

Lotus expects to stay with frontrunners

Lotus is confident it has the drivers and car to be quick at every track from now on, after finally delivering its first podium finish of the season in Bahrain. Despite having shown promising speed in the first few races of the campaign it had failed to finish in the top three until last weekend, when Kimi Raikkonen and Romain Grosjean both secured podium spots. Trackside operations director Alan Permane reckons that the result is proof that Lotus has now got its act together and is ready to show that its E20 can repeat that form at other races.
